This structure provides an optimal combination of a safe operating temperature range, high strength, and excellent corrosion resistance.
- Safe temperature range: Verified for use down to -40°C with impact toughness ≥60J (as validated in oil and gas projects). The long-term service temperature should be ≤280°C, as exposure above 300°C may lead to the precipitation of sigma brittle phases.
- Strength advantage: Offers a yield strength of ≥450MPa (compared to 220MPa for 316L) and a tensile strength of ≥620MPa. This allows for a 25% reduction in thickness under the same load-bearing requirements.
- Corrosion resistance: Features a pitting resistance equivalent (PREN) number of ≥35 (316L is typically 25). It excels in chloride ion environments (e.g., chemical plant cooler tube sheets), demonstrated by a salt spray test result of >800 hours without red rust (carbon steel typically fails in under 100 hours).
