Shuangzhong Group Delivers Over 70 Tons of Steel Sections in 15 Days, Directly Shipped from Qingdao Port to Australia to Support Infrastructure Construction
On July 13, 2025, a container carrying over 70 tons of structural steel sections of various specifications was loaded at the Qingdao Port Automated Terminal in Shandong Port and set sail aboard the Maersk Line liner "Australia" for the Port of Melbourne, Australia. This batch of 11 types of steel products, urgently customized by Shuangzhong Group, will be used in the construction of an industrial park in Victoria, Australia. The entire ocean freight time is expected to be 22 days, providing critical material support for the project's main structure construction.
This order stemmed from an urgent request from an Australian customer on June 28th. According to Shuangzhong Group's production manager, due to the accelerated construction schedule for the industrial park, the customer specifically requested that the entire process, from raw material processing to port delivery, be completed within 15 days. All products must comply with the Australian AS/NZS 3679.1 steel structure material standard. After receiving the order, the group quickly launched a "multi-type steel collaborative production plan," prioritizing the allocation of Q355B low-alloy high-strength steel raw materials that meet the GB/T 11263 standard. Among them, 18 18-meter-long 250UC72.9 general-purpose column steels (18 pieces) will serve as the core load-bearing components of the industrial park factory buildings, 51 12-meter-long 150PFC parallel flange channel steels will be adapted for the floor support system, and 2 8-meter-long RHS 75x50x5 rectangular hollow steel sections will be used for pipe support construction. The functions of various products are precisely matched to the project construction requirements. During the production process, Shuangzhong Group deployed three intelligent production lines operating in parallel to overcome the challenges of processing long, multi-specification steel sections. To address the 18-meter-long dimensions of the 250UC72.9 column steel, a "segmented precision cutting + overall stress relief" process was employed. Real-time monitoring via a laser diameter measurement system maintained cross-sectional tolerances within ±0.5mm, ensuring load-bearing stability. Preliminary bending tests were conducted on 36 200UB25.4 general-purpose beams (15 meters long), applying a load pressure of 1.2 times the design value to verify their compliance with the load-bearing requirements for heavy equipment installation in the industrial park. After all products rolled off the production line on July 10th, a third-party testing agency, operating under the ISO 9001 quality management system, completed mechanical property testing, dimensional acceptance, and surface quality inspection within three days. A conformity report was issued and submitted simultaneously to the Australian customer for confirmation, ensuring compliance with local standards.
As a key logistics hub for this export, Qingdao Port customized an efficient customs clearance and shipping plan for this batch of steel sections. A specialist from the Port Logistics Department explained that, in response to the "heavy cargo and multiple specifications" characteristics of steel sections, a "breakbulk export green channel" was opened, employing a "one-pallet-one-ticket" cargo space management model and coordinating simultaneous lifting operations by two 16-ton gantry cranes. This reduced the traditional eight-hour inspection and loading process to four hours. Furthermore, leveraging the direct route from Qingdao Port to Australia, transit points were avoided, shortening shipping time by six days compared to transit routes, effectively reducing the risk of project delays for customers.
The Foreign Trade Director of Shuangzhong Group noted that this rapid delivery highlights the company's core competitiveness in the export of high-end steel sections. Products such as 250UB31.4 beams and 150PFC channel steel have received quality certification from the Australian Steel & Tube certification body, becoming a key support for entering the Australian infrastructure market. Data shows that in the first half of 2025, my country's steel structure exports to Australia increased by 18.3% year-on-year. Benefiting from the RCEP tariff reduction policy, Shuangzhong Group's exports of steel sections to Australia increased by 23% year-on-year. This order further consolidates the company's position in Australia's infrastructure supply chain.
An Australian customer representative provided feedback via video link: "Chinese companies' production efficiency and quality control far exceeded expectations. This batch of steel sections will ensure that the main structure of the industrial park project will be topped out as planned in October this year." The liner is currently departing Qingdao Port according to its scheduled route and is expected to arrive at Melbourne Port in early August. It will then travel directly to the project construction site by land to ensure smooth progress of subsequent construction.
